The Art and Design group went to visit the GSA Archives on Mon 3 Feb.
during the visit they were lucky enough to view the sketchbooks, prints
and textiles of Slyvia Chalmers, which were truly inspirational. A
travel journal of Jack Lindsay, and some prints, textiles and workbooks
of Dorothy C Smith. Not to mention the fabulous fashion illustrations by
Garcia Hunter. After such an amazing visit we had a quick trip to
Mandors to source fabrics and finished off with some wee packages of
bananas bread.

Helen Izzard 1929-2014
Although Helen has not been in the Hall for a while, she was a huge part of the Nan McKay for many years. She lived in St John's Quadrant and moved to St Andrews Crescent, always a stone's throw from the hall. She was a regular church goer and that smile was always there, a captivating personality, she brightened up any group she attended.
Helen was born on 7th November 1929.
The family would like to welcome hall members, friends and neighbours to join the family in remembering Helen at Craigton Crematorium on
Thursday 6th March at 1030am
and then a service at 11am in Pollokshields Parish Church, Shields Road, G41 2RF and refreshments

Camera Class at the BBC
Here's Hilda (91) limbering up to catch a reflection of the police helicopter taking off.
We just wanted to share our outing with you because the Clyde and all its latest Glasgow architecture was just stunning yesterday. Take yourself down to the BBC cafe for a coffee (you just go in the main doors) and have a wander... wow this city of ours is stunning. Camera paradise.

Farewell Mary Brown 1915 - 2014
Heartfelt condolences to Lesley and her family, she lost her mum Mary Brown at the weekend. This is the picture the kids would like on the blog; it was taken in 2013 at Lesley and John's 50th wedding anniversary.
Mary was born on the 8th of August 1915. She loved to dance and traveled to different countries when Lesley's dad was alive, spending six months every year with family in Australia.
Service at 3pm at Linn Crematorium then all family and friends wellcome at Redhurst Hotel in Eastwoodmains Road.
